SummerThis native perennial is a member of the carrot family, Apiaceae. It grows to 10-24" in height. Blooming May through October, the small clusters of tiny flowers form larger, golden yellow-to-orangish red flat clusters, 1-3" wide. The leaves are extremely variable. They may be lobed, compound or twice compound, are 2-6" long and are finely divided into leaflets of various sizes and shapes. The fruit are oblong, ridged, green capsules, 1/4" long which turn bright red when mature. It grows in the northern half and southeastern corner of Arizona, inhabiting grasslands, montane, subalpine afrom 5,500-11,500', meadows and aspen groves. |
