We actually discovered this trail in our campground. The directions above are to the most accessible part/trailhead and is actually near the half-way point in the trail.
If you take the flat part of the trail and continue into the ponderosa pine and bracken fern forest (away from the Rim) you will meet up with the Crook Trail. At this junction, you will also see a nice open field (pictured above) which would be ideal for watching animals at dusk!
If you take the other direction, crossing the Hole-in-Ground gravel pit road, it will drop off of the Rim. The trail down the Rim winds its way through pinyon pine, juniper, manzanita, buckbrush, and beargrass and offers dramatic views off of the Rim. This end of the trail will meet up with the Highline Trail and eventually lead to Christopher Creek.
